Digital Health Score is a simple 1-5, green-red, rating system that reveals the health of online content. Our early prototype is a chrome extension that analyzes your active tab and assesses the client's potential impact on your mental well-being. It primarily focuses on text-based content, including articles, news, social media posts, and transcripts from YouTube videos.

The extension uses sentiment analysis to examine the tone and emotional themes of the content you view. It then aggregates and assesses the negativity load you have consumed. Based on this analysis, it assigns a score indicating the potential impact on your mood, stress levels, and overall well-being.

You can view your score for various timeframes:

• Daily: Reflects the overall sentiment of your browsing activity for the past 24 hours.
• Weekly: Offers a broader picture of your browsing habits within the last week.
• Monthly: Provides a longer-term perspective on your online content consumption trends and potential impact.

The score does not weigh for political affiliations, content sources, or likelihood of misinformation. The sole purpose of the score is to reveal the extent that your content, whatever that may be, may be trying to emotionally manipulate you. Whatever you do with this information is up to you, it requires no necessary action.

No. The extension only analyzes the text content of web pages you visit through the active tab, not your personal data or browsing history. We value your privacy, and all data collected is anonymized and aggregated for research purposes only.

Before we expand this product to video we need to know that Digital Health Score is genuinely empowering. Our goal is to create a tool that gives users agency over their online experience. We’re looking for feedback to help us turn this basic idea into something that could truly help the community.
